This fortnight, we move to another element of the Greensands PACE model - Building Knowledge and Skills.
One crucial element of building and strengthening our students' schema in their long term memory is to allow for retrieval in our lessons. Essentially, recalling something from memory causes content in our students' long term memories to increase in storage and retrieval strength each time it is recalled. In turn, this will allow our students to be able to derive greater meaning from further new content in future lessons, thus building their internal schema.
This week's blog, from Bradford Research School, examines how this can look in our classrooms, and the science behind why we know this can be so impactful for our students.
