Grammar

Throughout the year working on correct sentence structure and punctuation including full stops, question marks, exclamation marks and capital letters to start sentences and proper nouns. Children will be encouraged to expand their vocabulary. We will also be developing knowledge of parts of speech eg nouns, verbs, adjectives and adverbs.

Phonics

Daily phonics take place. We will revise and continue to introduce 44 English phonemes and introduce regular word endings and use Phase 4 & 5 of Letters and Sounds and Support for Spelling.

Reading

Daily guided reading activities.

Handwriting

We will revise correct letter and number formation and introduce joined script.

 

The school has successfully provided a curriculum based on building on pupil’s skills.
