Our ethos at Holmesdale Community Infant and Nursery School puts children at the heart of our learning community; we look to develop the whole child and our school is one in which every person matters. As part of the National Year of Reading 2026, we are excited to celebrate author and illustrator Jez Alborough this month! Our children love his fun, engaging stories filled with playful rhyming patterns, memorable characters and wonderful animal adventures. His books help to develop early language skills, build vocabulary and encourage a love of reading through repetition, rhythm and humour. Year One children took part in a recycling workshop where they learned how to care for the environment. They explored what can and can't be recycled and what waste can be turned into, helping them understand the importance of recycling. Working in groups they discussed which items went into which bins.
